How to play Golf Solitaire

Try Golf Solitaire at your own pace and keep its objective in view. Remove all 35 tableau cards. Look at what changes after your first action. Treat the first round as a chance to learn the controls. Use the example below to understand a decision.

Seven columns of five, one stock pass. Free solo play, no wagering.

A useful comparison

Compare the worked example with your own position. Use the reasoning, not an answer copied from a different board. Keep the objective visible.

Your goal

Remove all 35 tableau cards. Keep that objective in view throughout the round. The example below illustrates a decision.

Step by step

  1. Take an exposed bottom card one rank above or below the waste top, allowing ace–king wrapping.
  2. Click an exposed card or eligible pair to remove it.
  3. Draw when useful.
  4. Undo reverses a choice. New deal shuffles again.

Controls

Click or tap cards and piles. Wide tableaus scroll inside the game; use Undo, Hint and New deal where shown. Read a button’s label before selecting it. Contact us with the game and device if a control does not respond.

A useful example

Waste queen accepts jack or king. Use the example as a guide rather than a substitute for reading your board. Consider the next action carefully.

Watch out for this

Random deals are not guaranteed solvable. A hint is a legal move, not a winning strategy. Take a moment to reassess the position before continuing. When a decision goes wrong, compare it with the common mistake described below. Start again only when you intend to leave the current round.
